School District Spending Data available! — How do Maine's school districts spend their money? Detailed spending data has been available on the state Department of Education's website for years... more
How are Maine's students in grades 3-8 doing on state standardized tests?
In Maine, students in Grades 3-8 take the New England Common Assessment Program test, or NECAP, which is an assessment test given to elementary school students in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The fall of 2009 was the first time Maine students took the NECAP, which replaced the Maine Education Assessment as Maine's state standardized achievement test. The NECAP tests Math, Reading, and Writing, though no writing scores were reported from the fall 2009 NECAP administration, as new test questions were being piloted at that time.

Note: Score data may be missing for some grade levels in some of Maine's smaller schools. In some instances, there are so few students in a given grade level that scores are not reported, as they are not considered to be statistically reliable.
